I really like this radio and want to keep it going. This was not an SWR issue to start…Īny help or input on my issues would be appreciated. I have an antenna analyzer and my antennas are well tuned. The radio is fitted with the FL-223 filter. This lag is similar to that noted in the sound recovery and ALC meter recession described in Issue 2 above. Issue 3: The RF adjustment when in modes where it acts as a rf adjustment, is slow to respond - meaning that if I attenuate my AF using the RF adjustment and modify the RF adjuster the response is significantly lagged. The symptoms of this issue are when the freq/mode are changed the sound cuts out and ALC meter momentarily spikes and slowly recedes as the sound from the radio returns to normal. Issue 2: The radio is (sometimes) slow to adjust when switching between different frequencies/modes – In particular when switching to 2m/70cm ssb from any other mode or freq, and less frequently when switching to the HF bands/modes. I believe my ssb transmissions upon this occurrence cease to be readable, but I am not sure. On 2m SSB the issue will present as the ALC meter working properly (indicating response to voice input), to spiking the meter to the right. I am told the radio sounds fine on the local repeaters. Issue 1: UHF/VHF power output occasionally spikes to 100%, no matter the power setting. The initial indications of issues, prior to losing all UHF/VHF and HF transmit: The initial problems began on UHF/VHF and HF transmit is now gone as well. Should I mark the face plate to ensure the one I send in is the one I receive back. The 706 Series represents one of the most popular transceivers in amateur radio histroy. Should I remove the add-in filters prior to sending? I don’t want to risk more the necessary when sending the unit in for repair.Ģ. I do not have original packing, but will pack it well. I am wanting to send my 706mk2G to icom for service.
